Pearl Ellis Gallery Show
"Oil & Water" is the name of the show that I am in currently at the Pearl Ellis Gallery in Comox, BC, with Yvonne Maximchuk. Yvonne is showing watercolours and acrylics, mostly landscapes of the area around Echo Bay up north where she lives on a remote island in the Broughton Archipelago. Like me she is not near the epicenter of the art world, although I am not nearly so remote as she is. Yvonne has a studio retreat that you get to by boat and paints lovely things inspired by the wild nature she is surrounded by. Find her work and all about her artist retreat studio at www.searosestudio.net
I am showing oils (with a couple of pastels sneaked in!) and mostly my figurative works, with a few still life pieces and florals. One of the florals has sold! Also, the workshop I gave, "The Magic of Cast Shadow" last saturday went very well with eleven people signed up for the class. I think everyone enjoyed the day, learned a few things, and went away with some artistic inspiration...I hope! The only downside of the day was when one of the ladies, an elderly woman long known for her watercolour artwork in the Comox area, fell and had to be taken to hospital. It turned out she fractured her pelvis but is going to be ok. We are all hoping her recovery will be quick.
The show continues until March 3rd.
